How much does a weighted blanket cost?

Short answer: a weighted blanket that is worth owning starts under a hundred dollars and stops being about weight somewhere around two hundred. Everything above that is paying for the material and the construction, not for more weight.
Longer answer is below, and it is built the way everything on this site is built. We opened each retailer page, read the price off it, and wrote down the date. Nothing here is a manufacturer list price, and nothing is an estimate we made up to fill a range.
One thing to get out of the way first, because it decides the price more than anything else does: what is making the blanket heavy. Cheap blankets get their weight from glass beads sewn into pockets. Expensive ones get it from the fabric itself, knitted densely enough that no fill is needed. Both work. They feel completely different, and they wash completely differently.

What each price buys
The working end $0 to $100
Glass-bead fill in sewn pockets, a cotton or poly outer, and a weight chart that goes by body weight. This is the band where you find out whether you actually like sleeping under weight, and it does that job as well as anything above it. The compromise is usually the cover: the weighted layer itself is often hand-wash only, so you are washing a duvet cover and spot-cleaning the rest.

Better covers, same physics $100 to $180
Still glass beads, but with construction that is trying harder: quilted baffles so the beads cannot migrate to one corner, proper zippers, a removable plush cover that goes in the machine. You are buying the parts that fail first on a cheap blanket, not a different sleeping experience.

Knitted, no fill at all $180 and up
At the top of the range the beads disappear. The weight comes from densely hand-knitted cotton loops, which means the whole blanket is machine washable and it breathes in a way a bead-filled quilt does not. If you sleep hot, this is the difference you are paying for. If you do not, you are paying for how it looks on the bed.

Where the money does not go: weight. A twenty pound blanket does not cost meaningfully more than a fifteen pound one from the same maker. Every brand we track sizes by body weight and lands on roughly the same rule of thumb, about ten percent of what you weigh, so pick the weight from the chart and let the price be decided by the material and the cover.
One honest gap in what we can tell you. Weighted blankets are sold with a lot of language about anxiety and sleep quality. We do not repeat those claims, because we cannot verify them, and the studies that exist are small. What we can tell you is what the thing costs and what it is made of.

Is a more expensive weighted blanket actually better?
Not at making you feel heavier, which is the part most people are buying. The extra money buys construction and material: quilted baffles that stop the fill shifting, a cover you can machine wash, and at the top of the range a knitted cotton build with no fill at all that breathes better and washes whole. If you sleep hot, that is a real difference. If you do not, the cheaper blanket does the same job.
