How to pick one

The first decision is not the desk, it is whether you need a desk at all. If you already have a desk you like and just want to stand sometimes, a converter that sits on top costs less up front, needs no outlet and no assembly, but it eats into your usable depth and caps how much weight it can hold. A full standing desk frame replaces the desk entirely, holds far more weight, and gives a cleaner surface, at the cost of buying a whole new desk and usually assembling it yourself.

Single motor versus dual motor is the spec people underweight until they own the desk. A single motor is cheaper and fine for a laptop and one monitor, but it lifts more slowly and tops out around 90 to 100 lb of capacity. Dual motors move both legs in sync, lift faster, and typically rate for 250 lb or more, which matters once a monitor arm, a dock and a second monitor are all sitting on top. Price the size and top you actually want before comparing motor counts, since a bare frame price without a desktop is not the number you will pay.

Warranty length is not one number. Frames commonly carry warranties from 5 to 15 years, but the desktop itself is often covered separately and for far less time, sometimes just 1 to 2 years, since a laminate or MDF top wears differently than steel legs and a motor. Read the warranty by part, not as a single headline figure.

Height range only matters relative to your own height, not as an absolute number to maximize. Most adjustable desks bottom out around 22 to 29 inches and top out between 47 and 52 inches, which covers the large majority of adult users sitting and standing, so a wider range beyond that is rarely the deciding factor. Assembly time and whether the desk ships in one box or two separate boxes for frame and top matter more day to day than an extra inch of range.
