Standing desks
Electric standing desks and desk converters, compared on motor count, lift capacity and the specific size and top that price applies to.
Desk prices swing by hundreds of dollars once you pick a size and top material, so treat any headline price as a starting point, not the number you will actually pay. A dual-motor frame and a manual converter solve the same problem in very different ways and at very different costs.

Common questions
How much should a good standing desk cost?
The ones we track run from about a hundred and thirty five dollars for a small single-motor desk up to around seven hundred and fifty dollars for a made-to-order dual-motor frame with a larger top, with a manual desk converter landing in between those two at over four hundred dollars.
Do I need a dual-motor desk or is single motor enough?
A single motor is enough for a laptop, one monitor and normal desk clutter. Once you add a monitor arm, a second monitor or a dock, a dual-motor frame's higher lift capacity and faster, more even lift are worth the extra cost.
Is a desk converter a good substitute for a full standing desk?
It is a reasonable way to try standing at work or to work around a desk you cannot replace, since it needs no assembly and no outlet. It is not a full substitute long term because it sits on top of your existing desk, reduces your usable surface, and holds far less weight than a real standing desk frame.
Does the warranty cover the desktop as well as the frame?
Not always. Some brands cover the whole desk, top included, for the same long term, while others give the frame a much longer warranty than the desktop. Check both numbers separately before assuming the headline warranty covers everything.
