A unit rated the same pint number today removes less water than an older one did, which makes brand-to-brand shopping confusing unless you also look at coverage area and, more importantly, how the unit actually gets rid of the water it collects.

4. Pure Enrichment Mini Dehumidifier
Thermoelectric operation means no compressor and no filter, and the coffee-mug footprint fits a gun safe, a small closet or an RV bathroom that a bucket unit never could.
$69.99 at Target, price checked 2026-08-30. It only removes about 10 oz. of water a day from a 0.21-gallon tank you empty by hand, so it is not a substitute for a room dehumidifier.

What is the single most important spec to check before buying?
Drainage type. Whether a unit is bucket-only, includes a gravity drain hose, or has a built-in pump determines how much manual emptying you will do, and it matters more day to day than the pint rating.
Is a higher pint number always better?
Only if it was tested under the same 2019 DOE procedure as the unit you are comparing it to. A pre-2019 pint rating on an older listing is not directly comparable to a current one.
