The best air fryers in 2026

Updated Aug 29, 2026 ยท prices dated per offer

Basket size is the spec that decides whether an air fryer works for your household. A 4-quart basket feeds one or two people per batch, a 6-quart unit handles a family main, and a dual-basket model lets a main and a side cook at different settings and finish together. After that, the differences come down to program count, whether there is a window so you can check food without opening the drawer, and whether the basket goes in the dishwasher or has to be washed by hand.

We compared four basket-style air fryers from 4 to 8 quarts: a bare-bones single basket, a compact 5-quart with an unusually wide temperature range, a 6-quart with a see-through basket, and an 8-quart split into two independent zones. Every price in this guide was checked on the date shown next to it.

Best overall

1. Instant Pot Vortex Plus 6-Quart ClearCook Air Fryer

The Vortex Plus is the most complete single-basket fryer here: 6 quarts, 1700 watts, and six programs including broil and dehydrate, which the basic Ninja skips. Its ClearCook window with an interior light lets you watch browning without pulling the basket, so you are not dropping the chamber temperature every time you check on fries. The cooking basket and tray are dishwasher safe.

It costs $139.99 direct from Instant Pot, price checked 2026-08-29. That is more than a plain windowless 6-quart unit, but for a household of two to four that cooks one dish at a time, the capacity, program range and window make it the pick to default to.

Skip it if: you regularly cook a main and a side at once, where the dual-basket Ninja DZ801 does what no single basket can.

2. Cosori Pro LE 5.0-Quart Air Fryer

At $89.99 direct from Cosori, price checked 2026-08-28, the Pro LE is the cheapest fryer in this roundup and still covers the widest temperature range, 90 to 450 F. The 450 F top end beats most basket fryers at any price in this group, and the low-90s settings allow gentle warming and proofing. It is also the smallest unit here at about 10.7 by 10.8 inches of counter space, despite a 5-quart basket. Cosori claims operation under 55 dB with what it calls Air Whisper technology; that is the manufacturer's number.

The tradeoff is cleanup: Cosori's care instructions say to wash the basket by hand with soap and a non-abrasive sponge, and there is no viewing window. For one to three people who want the most fryer per dollar, it is the value pick.

Skip it if: hand-washing the basket after every use is a dealbreaker, since every other pick here has dishwasher-safe parts.

3. Ninja DZ801 DualZone 8-Quart Dual Air Fryer

The DZ801 is 8 quarts split into two independent 4-quart baskets, each with its own heater and fan, so fries can run at one temperature while chicken runs at another. Smart Finish staggers the start of the faster zone so both baskets finish together, and Match Cook copies one basket's settings to the other for big single-food batches. Baskets and crisper plates are dishwasher safe, and it carries a 1-year limited warranty.

It costs $219.99 direct from Ninja, price checked 2026-08-29, roughly twice the price of a basic 5-quart single basket, and it needs about 15 by 14.6 inches of counter. For three or more people eating a main plus a side on the same schedule, it is the only pick here that solves that problem.

Skip it if: you mostly cook one thing at a time or need room for large single items like a whole chicken, since each basket is only 4 quarts.

Best for one or two people

4. Ninja AF101 Air Fryer

The AF101 is Ninja's entry-level 4-quart fryer, and its appeal is how little there is to it: four programs on a simple panel, a ceramic-coated basket, and dishwasher-safe basket, crisper plate and rack. The Dehydrate mode runs as low as 105 F, which many small fryers skip. Ninja says the basket fits about 2 lbs of fries, a main portion for one or two people per batch.

It costs $119.99 at Target, price checked 2026-08-28. That puts it above the larger Cosori, so you are paying for the simple controls and easy cleanup rather than capacity. It tops out at 400 F, has no broil setting and no window.

Skip it if: you cook for more than two or want the most capability per dollar, since the Cosori Pro LE gives you a bigger basket and a wider temperature range for $30 less.

Common questions

What size air fryer do I need?

As a rule of thumb from the units here: 4 quarts feeds one or two people per batch, 5 to 6 quarts handles a main for two to four, and the 8-quart DualZone exists so a main and a side can cook simultaneously for three or more. Bigger baskets also mean bigger counter footprints, from about 10.7 inches wide for the Cosori to about 15 inches for the Ninja DZ801.

Is a viewing window worth paying for?

It removes one real annoyance: with a windowless fryer, checking food means pulling the basket out, which vents heat from the chamber. The Instant Vortex Plus is the only pick here with a window and an interior light. Whether that is worth its price over a plain 6-quart unit depends on how often you peek.

Can I put the basket in the dishwasher?

It varies by model, so check before buying. Ninja lists the AF101 and DZ801 baskets and crisper plates as dishwasher safe, and Instant lists the Vortex Plus basket and tray as dishwasher safe. Cosori's care instructions for the Pro LE recommend hand washing with a non-abrasive sponge.

Do air fryers have recurring costs?

None of the four models here uses filters, cartridges or other consumables. The ongoing cost is electricity, with these units drawing between 1500 and 1700 watts while running.
