Blue light glasses filter part of the short-wavelength range that screens put out. That is the mechanism, and it is worth being clear about what it is not: independent research on whether these glasses meaningfully reduce eye strain or improve sleep is mixed, and the filtering percentages you see quoted almost always come from the brand rather than an independent lab. We treat them as a comfort accessory, not a fix.
What you can actually compare is the lens: how much tint it carries, whether the brand publishes a number for what it blocks and at which wavelength, whether prescription lenses are an option, and what the frames cost. GUNNAR is the only brand here that publishes a blocking figure per lens tint at a stated wavelength: Clear Pro 20 percent, Clear 35 percent, Amber 65 percent, Sun 90 percent and Amber Max 98 percent at 450 nm, per GUNNAR. That lets you trade filtering against color shift deliberately instead of taking one lens on trust. Prescription runs from -6 to +5 diopters, and a 12 month warranty is included.
Those percentages are still brand reported, not independently verified. The stronger amber tints also visibly change on-screen color, which is fine for evening reading or gaming and annoying for photo work, and the nylon frames read more gaming than office.
Skip it if: you do color-sensitive work, since the tints that block the most are also the ones that shift what you see on screen.

2. Felix Gray Nash
Felix Gray builds the filtering into the lens material rather than applying it as a surface coating or dye, per the brand, and sells the Nash with or without prescription in several acetate colorways. The headline claim, up to 23 times more of the most impactful blue light filtered on the amber lens, is Felix Gray's own figure rather than an independent lab result. It is also priced well above budget frames for glasses that do no vision correction unless you add a prescription.
Skip it if: you want independently verified filtering numbers, since the figures here are the brand's own.

3. TIJN Emblematic O 01
TIJN comes at this fashion first: an oversized O 01 frame with colour-tinted lenses in six frame and lens combinations, sold with a blue-light-filter treatment layered on. Prescription lenses are available through TIJN's site, and the frames undercut Felix Gray.
TIJN publishes no blocking percentage for this pair, so there is less to check than with GUNNAR, and the coloured lenses noticeably change how screens and colors look. It is also a newer name in this category than the other two.
Skip it if: the filtering claim is the reason you are buying, since TIJN does not publish a blocking percentage for this frame.
Common questions
Do blue light glasses actually help you sleep?
The honest answer is that the evidence is mixed. Filtering short-wavelength light in the evening is a plausible mechanism, and it is why the amber and darker tints exist, but independent research has not settled whether these glasses change sleep or eye strain much for most people. Turning screen brightness down and stopping earlier does similar work for free.
Why do the brands quote such different numbers?
Because they measure different things. GUNNAR quotes a percentage blocked at 450 nm for each tint. Felix Gray quotes a multiple against untreated lenses on its amber lens. TIJN publishes nothing for this frame. None of it is independently audited, so read all of it as brand claims rather than lab results.
Clear lens or amber lens?
Clear lenses block a small slice and leave color alone, which suits daytime desk work. Amber lenses block much more, per GUNNAR's own figures, and shift on-screen color noticeably, which suits evening use. If you want one pair for both, the clear or lightly tinted options are the compromise.
Do I need a prescription pair?
Only if you already wear one. All three brands sell prescription versions, GUNNAR from -6 to +5 diopters; otherwise the non-prescription versions are plain lenses carrying the filter treatment.
